Anniversary Luncheon
The Anniversary Luncheon commemorates the founding of the Lyceum
Club in Brisbane on Friday 2 May 1919 and is held annually in late
April or early May.
It is a very special occasion for the Club and is accompanied either
by a performance of a play or music or an address by a well known
speaker.
The Anniversary Luncheons commenced in 1995 following the highly
successful 75th Anniversary Dinner which was celebrated at the Queensland
Parliamentary Annexe on Friday, 29 April 1994. Her Excellency the
Governor of Queensland, Mrs Leneen Forde AC attended that dinner
and gave the anniversary address.
Our Patron, Her Excellency,
Penelope Wensley AC Governor of Queensland,
as guest speaker at the 2009
Anniversary Luncheon, amazed those present with her overview of the
breadth of her duties and responsibilities.

The Lyceum Lecture
The
Lyceum Lecture is presented by an eminent Australian woman to
members and guests at a dinner.
The Lecture began in 1998. A woman, pre-eminent in her profession
and from anywhere in Australia is invited to speak on a topic of
her choice which reflects the interests of Lyceum, that is art,
literature, music, science, education journalism and current affairs.
The Lyceum Lecturer presents aspects of her research and its outcomes
or provides an interpretation of her special interests.
The Lyceum Lecture is an evening dinner meeting and is eagerly
anticipated by both members and their guests. It is the major event
of the Lyceum Club Brisbane Incorporated and is unique in world
wide Lyceum. Lyceum Lecturers consider it an honour to be invited.
